IN SITU
March 17-20, 2010

Vancouver Public Library Atrium
350 West Georgia Street, Vancouver

Programme

New Music by Jocelyn Morlock and Jordan Nobles

Performers

The Vertical Orchestra and Aeriosa

Dynamic live music and aerial dance combine in the breathtaking performance In Situ!

In Situ starts outdoors at Vancouver’s Central Library, the serene grandeur of Library Square setting the scene for dynamic interaction between musicians, dancers and the striking architecture. Artists from Aeriosa and the Vertical Orchestra, presented by Redshift Music Society, work three-dimensionally, presenting suspended dance and original spatial music throughout the venue at various heights. The performance moves indoors as it progresses, unfolding in the seven-storey concourse, and audiences will be enticed to flow through the building, led by artists and guides who will interact with them along the way.

This outstanding team of diverse artists collaborates to create a full-length interdisciplinary site work: Julia Taffe, Artistic Director of Aeriosa, BC composers Jocelyn Morlock and Jordan Nobles, and choreographer Amelia Rudolph, founding Artistic Director of the internationally renowned vertical dance company Project Bandaloop.

In Situ is inspired by physical expression, engagement with the environment, and societal contrasts — themes that permeate Vancouver's cultural landscape and shape urban life on the West Coast.
